The Dual Nature of Christ
| - Jesus Christ was fully God but at the same time fully man
| throughout the scriptures he speaks from two different standpoints—some show his deity, some his humanity.
Col 1:15 "He is the image of the invisible God, the first-born of all creation"
| image - that which can be seen |
| but God is invisible, man has never seen him. The invisible God indwelt Christ |
I Timothy 3:16 "God was manifest in the flesh" (KJV)
2 Cor 4:4,6 "...Christ, who is the image of God." "...the glory of God in the face of Christ."
| "face" carries idea of person |
Acts 2:36 "Therefore let all the house of Israel know for certain
| that God has made im both Lord [Kurios] and Christ - this Jesus whom you crucified"
kurios - refers to humanity of Jesus - "the anointed" - the lesser is anointed by the greater - God did not become man - God is unchanging and immortal - He cannot become man - would violate the attributes of God - God did not die on the cross - the man Jesus Christ died on the cross. |
Col 2:9 "For in Him all the fulness of the Deity dwells in bodily form"
| "Deity" = in Grk theotes = "god-essence"
God dwelt in Christ bodily - God did not make the man God |

| Psalm 2:7 "He said to Me ‘Thou art my Son, Today I have begotten Thee’..."
| speaking of Jesus Christ prophetically - of what God would say, as it were, on the day some 1000 years hence (from David) when Jesus was born - not God speaking to a pre-existent Son - a son cannot be deity - a son has a beginning but God is eternal |
...
2 Cor 5:19 "...God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself"
| Greek "in" = ev [lit - "inside of" ? - Faylor didn't say this - drew a circle with a dot in the middle] |

Jesus as God
|
...
Rev. 5:8 - in John's visions, the Lamb worshipped by the saints
Matthew 4:10 - God alone is to be worshipped - would be wrong to worship Jesus if he were not God
